Lottotech Sues Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA)

Lottotech will be sueing the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) because of the losses it faced following the latter’s measures.

Following the budgetary measures, Lottotech has allegedly faced quite some losses. It argues that it is seeking justice. It, therefore, wants to be compensated: it demands to be the recipient of Rs 350 million.

Before the measures were implemented, Lottotech used to have around 28 different games involving “scratch cards” that were previously approved by the GRA. However, since 2014 the Ministry of Finance decided that these cards would be banned. Furthermore, the advertising of gambling was prohibited. This impacted on the revenues of Lottotech such that it faced considerable financial losses. It is thus convinced that it is seeking justice by demanding compensation.
