The use of drones in Mauritius will soon be regulated by law.
The government is currently working on a new legislation to regulate the use of drones in the country.
One of the rules and regulations to be implemented will entail the issuing of permits: individuals owning drones with weight exceeding 7 kilos will require to have a permit from the department of civil aviation; this will be applied particularly to those using the devices for commercial activities like taking photos and videos.
The aim of this law is to protect the privacy of the people, and not to control the drone users themselves, reports DefiMedia.info.
Furthermore, drones will be prohibited in sensitive areas like the airport, “Casernes centrales”, and the government house.
