493 cases of falsified horsepower have been recorded by the police.
The cases have been reported up until July 7 of this year. The information was revealed in a reply of the Prime Minister to Deputy Reza Uteem at the National Assembly on Tuesday, this week.
The police is currently working on 489 of these cases while the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will deal with the rest.
37 offenders have been arrested and released on bail, none of whom has been prosecuted. Also, 27 vehicles have been seized, with 21 of them returned to their owners as per the directives of the DPP, and 3 of them only returned after experts conducted the appropriate tests on them; otherwise, 3 are still waiting to be examined.
