Lawyer Rama Valayden Arrested Following NPFL Complaint

Famous Mauritian lawyer and politician Rama Valayden has been arrested by the police today 14 July 2016. The arrest was confirmed by Rama Valayden himself on Radio Plus. According to initial media reports, lawyer Rama Valayden has been arrested following a complaint by the CEO of the National Property Fund Ltd.


Earlier today, the CEO of NPFL accompanied by several employees, lodged a police complaint affirming that ex-customers of Super Cash Back Gold Plan reportedly threatened some NPFL staffs during a protest which was held on Wednesday, July 13 – Port Louis. According to the complaint, Rama Valayden allegedly participated in this event.

As at 19:22 today, the police questioning was still going on. Mr Rama Valayden is being assisted by lawyers Yatin Varma, Nadeem Hyderkhan and Erikson Mooneapillay.
