Will Mauritius take action at an international level, thereby involving the UN, when it comes to the fate of the Chagossians? The PM, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, explains that the proposals of the UK will have to be sent before any final decision is made.
Answering to the Private Notice Question (PNQ) in Parliament, the PM explains that a decision will not be taken before UK’s proposals are put forward. The PNQ was asked by Paul Berenger who wanted to know whether the PM would come up with a decision before September.
Any final resolution will, therefore, depend on UK’s proposals. The PM adds that if a consensus is reached, Mauritius will not bring the case to the attention of the UN.
