Bad news for students (and teachers!) looking forward to staying at home on Thursday, September 1, the day of the solar eclipse! The Ministry of Education has confirmed that all schools will remain open on that day, in spite of the event.
The Government Teachers’ Union (GTU) had previously requested for a school holiday on Thursday because of the annular solar eclipse. This quickly led to students expressing their excitement for both the event itself and the possibility of a holiday. However, the authorities have explained that the request has not been accepted. Thursday will be a normal school day.
