The Heritage City project will not see the light of the day, the government announces.
A committee presided over by the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, was to meet up today to decide upon the fate of Heritage City. It was, then, finally decided that the project would not be brought to completion. The news was released today, October 11.
What will remain, on the other hand, is the concept of an administrative city that will be characterised by a better financial management as opposed to what is needed for existing individual buildings constituting the different ministries. The geographical location of such a city and its development will now be studied, and a committee under the Ministry of Finance will be set up to do so.
