Nine Mauritian sailors have been rescued by fishermen from Madagascar last week after their vessel drifted off in the Indian Ocean near the coast of “la Grande Île” on September 20.
The nine crew members had set out on September 18, looking forward to fishing for a few days’ time. However, 2 days later, the engine of their boat failed. They had no means of communication as they were left without electricity.
Thankfully, they were rescued by a group of fishermen coming from Madagascar on September 30, and are now safe and sound, explained the captain of the boat, Jérémy Mardochee, in a statement to Radio Plus.
