3,200 American millionaires currently live in Mauritius, according to the latest report of New World Wealth.
The combined wealth of the 3,200 American millionaires would amount to 12 billion dollars, says New World Wealth, which describes itself as a global wealth intelligence and market research company. To achieve its objectives, it conducts a number of studies spanning over 120 countries.
According to its most recent statistics, the trend of millionaires being attracted to Mauritius from the US has started back in 2000. From then on, the number of rich Americans living on the island has increased by 340%, with 3,200 of them in 2015. This number is likely to rise by 130% in the coming 9 years. A plethora of factors have contributed to this state of affairs, specially the economic crisis back in 2007 and 2008. Furthermore, Mauritius itself has an economy characterised by a strong growth based on principles of good governance, all of which attract wealthy individuals and groups.
Furthermore, Mauritius is described as being among the best 5 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to constitute a destination for the buying of property. The report says that it has sold 1,766 properties falling under the Integrated Resort Scheme, Real Estate Scheme or the Property Development Scheme in the last decade; over 40% of these clients are French, 20% are South-Africans, 9% are from the UK, while 7% are Mauritians.
New World Wealth has also praised the bank system of Mauritius as well as its financial market, and its low tax rate.
